{"id":2713,"date":"2013-01-10T16:21:38","date_gmt":"2013-01-10T21:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.biodiversityinfocus.com\/blog\/?p=2713"},"modified":"2013-01-10T16:21:38","modified_gmt":"2013-01-10T21:21:38","slug":"must-follow-twitter-biologists-of-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.biodiversityinfocus.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/10\/must-follow-twitter-biologists-of-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Must-Follow Twitter Biologists of 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yesterday Scientific American published &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article.cfm?id=must-follow-twitter-accounts-2013\" target=\"_blank\">Men and Women of (Limited) Letters: Must-Follow Twitter Accounts of 2013<\/a>&#8220;, a list of the Top 20 science-related Twitter accounts which they think everyone should follow. It&#8217;s a great list and I 100% recommend following everyone on it if you use Twitter (and if you don&#8217;t yet, then it&#8217;s a great place to start), but I noticed a heavy bias towards the physical sciences, and a distinct lack of biologists among the recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing as biology is the best, I figured I&#8217;d put together my own Top 15 list<sup class='footnote'><a href='#fn-2713-1' id='fnref-2713-1' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(2713)'>1<\/a><\/sup> (in no particular order) of Tweeting Biologists who will undoubtedly make 2013 a fun, educational and most-definitely squishy year!<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" width=\"550\">\n<p>The Tree of Life: A title and figures say it all: An In-Depth Analysis of a Piece of Shit (note &#8211; a bit gross) <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/Ffjnx7pO\" title=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/fb\/DME11\">goo.gl\/fb\/DME11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jonathan Eisen (@phylogenomics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/phylogenomics\/status\/289034178002051072\">January 9, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/phylogenomics\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Jonathan Eisen<\/a> is a professor at UC Davis, and tweets about all the little things in life.
